Time to Treat Your Tree

With December nearly upon us, its an ideal time to start giving some thought to our good friend; The Christmas Tree.

The tradition of a Tree at Christmas goes back as far as the 16th Century. I was lucky to grow up in a household where the decoration of the Christmas Tree was a yearly event. My whole family were involved and its a tradition I've carried on into my adult life and now with my own family. I remember plenty of the same decorations making an appearance each year, but there would always be a few new one's and by the time I was in my late teens we had a collection of decorations that could rival Fenwicks in Leicester (now sadly closed). The Tree signalled the start of Christmas for me and it would stay up until the very last moment in January - had it not been for the superstition, I would gladly have left it up all year :)

So when I made painting my career, it came as no surprise to me that I'd feel almost obliged to bring a bit of Christmas into my work. Fast forward to 2017 and Christmas Tree decorations are now a big part of my year...each one is designed by me and then individually hand painted - so you can imagine that I start them very early in the year. So although I don't get to have a Tree up all year, I do get to have decorations all year round - a very nice perk of my job :)

So I encourage you to let your Tree know how important it is to you and give it a treat this year - you can never have too many decorations :)
